Our Story
The East Hampton Men's Golf League was founded in 1987 by the late Carl Ogren who passed away on January 8th, 2001. In the early years of the League the membership consisted primarily of Connecticut Light and Power and Southern New England Telephone Company employees who worked tirelessly around the clock at times providing safe, reliable Electric and Telephone service to the many surrounding towns in the area. The New League was away for these men to spend more time together outside of their dangerous and stressful work environment. There were 20 players every year from 1987 to 1991, 28 in 1992 and 32 from 1993 to present. Over the years the League expanded to include family, friends and a wide variety of many other outstanding men from the local community who like the Charter Members exhibit Honesty, Integrity, Sportsmanship, Respect, Confidence, Courtesy, Responsibility, Perseverance, Fellowship, Diversity, Leadership and Proper Judgement skills to make the right decisions in life on and off the course every day even when no one is watching. There are two remaining active Charter Members from 1987.
